This is what famous un-bearded characters would look like with beards.

Vanja Mrgan is a self-proclaimed Croatian illustrator, geek and an all around alright kinda guy who takes it upon himself to answer burning questions like: What would Wario look like with a beard? What would the Black Mage from Final fantasy look like with a beard? What would Mr. Game and Watch look like with a beard? What would RoboCop look like with a beard.

I think you get the idea.

Enjoy some of Vanja Mrgan’s bearded renditions of iconic pop culture icons below.

Jack Skellington Revoltech Unpainted Prototype

November 17th, 2009 by brownkidd

Revoltech, the line of meticulously articulated, heavily detailed Japanese figures recently held their Revoltech Expo and unveiled a butt-load of new figures as well as some surprising new licenses featuring popular characters from American franchises like Batman, Alien, Jurassic Park, and Nightmare Before Christmas.

While I thought the Batman Revoltech looked kinda’ lame and I could care less about an Alien Revoltech or a Revoltech of the T-Rex from Jurassic Park (although the T-Rex is pretty badass lookin’), the Jack Skellington figure stole my heart and gave it a boner. I also love how they’ve replaced the standard plain Revoltech bases with more fitting stands that better suit each character.

Check out pics of the figures previously mentioned and more at Tokyo Hunter.

UK ‘Couples Retreat’ Poster Removes The Black Couple

November 16th, 2009 by brownkidd

COUPLES-RETREAT

The picture in the top left features the U.K. promotional poster for the movie Couples Retreat. Without black people. The picture in the top right is the U.S. version of the poster. With black people.

I wanted to make a joke about Brits being racist and putting the F.U. in U.K., but instead I’ll just post this quote from The Mail on Sunday:

The studio said it regretted causing offense and has abandoned plans to use the revised poster in other countries… A Universal spokesman said the revised advert aimed ‘to simplify the poster to actors who are most recognizable in international markets’.

A.K.A. The U.K. hates blacks, but they love them some Vince Vaughn.

November 12th, 2009 by brownkidd

You are about to see clips from a zombie movie that was filmed using this camera…

canon-eos-7d

… bricks will be shat.

Dead Season is a zombie flick that is apparently the first film shot entirely with the Canon 7D. A fucking camera meant for taking pictures!!! This shit is what I like to refer to as the muthafuckin’ cat’s pajamas.

Gizmodo has a pretty awesome review of the Canon 7D here.

Help support this site and make me a millionaire by buying lots of Canon 7D cameras from this Amazon link.

Daily Graffiti: Animal Crossing Mural of Randomness

November 2nd, 2009 by brownkidd

This awesomely random mural featuring Animal Crossing, Yoda, and Batman among other things was sent in by loyal Albotian, Don Schwabs aka the dude who did the Scribblenauts Munny.

While looking for a toy store in a part of town I rarely visit, I got lost and turned down a back lane to double back the way I came. I got an awesome surprise when I spotted this mural on the back of a bicycle shop of all places. I love Animal Crossing, so I ended up coming back with my camera to take a couple of pics and merge into the one mural.

Thanks a bunch, dude! You should get lost more often so you can find more awesome stuff!

Daily Graffiti: Highly Offensive NES Cartridge Wheatpastes

October 29th, 2009 by brownkidd

IMG_0471.JPG

As somewhat of an offensive guy myself, it takes a lot to offend me, but I had my doubts about posting this. I still do and I’m sure I’ll regret it, but here it is anyway.

Here’s three NES cartridge wheatpastes spotted in New York featuring mock titles such as Gran Torino: The Game, JFK: The Game, and — this one’s terrible — Jon Benet’s Killer Christmas. Ugh.

These wheatpastes are the handywork of AltrdBst. Funny or tasteless? What do you guys think?

The Horribly Slow Murderer with the Extremely Inefficient Weapon

October 28th, 2009 by brownkidd

Not much to say other than this is both amazingly awesome and kind of annoying, but still a little funny at the same time. Also, I’m reminded of Bill & Ted’s Bogus Journey.

Kirsten Dunst is a cosplayer? *UPDATED w/ More Pics*

October 26th, 2009 by brownkidd

kristendanime_082809

*UPDATE*
3Yen reports that Kirsten Dunst was rocking these cosplay duds in Akihabara for a video shoot directed by McG aka the dude who directed Terminator Salvation. The video is for an exhibition which will take place at the Tate Modern in London later this year.

Kirsten Dunst — an actress that I rarely ever find attractive — looks way sexy in this cosplay getup. Maybe it’s just my severe weakness to thigh-high stockings.

Transfomers/Lucky Star Mashup

October 23rd, 2009 by brownkidd

Someone out there on the intertubes thought it would be a great idea to turn the Transformers into cute little moe robots (aka moebots) and act out the closing credits to the Lucky Star anime. The results are… something.

Insane Ghostbusters Theme Song Multitrack

October 22nd, 2009 by brownkidd

Here’s a video of Matt Mulholland performing the oh-so-catchy Ghostbusters theme song by combining 14 tracks of himself making funny sounds. I almost stopped watching this halfway through, but it would have been a huge mistake, so I’m glad I didn’t. It’s so good!!!

‘Turbo’ – ‘Street Fighter’ meets ‘DDR’ meets ‘Karate Kid’ meets ‘Tron’

October 12th, 2009 by brownkidd

3987010659_8af0a5b3d3_b

Turbo is a short film by Jarett Lee Conaway and it stars some dude from Twilight. It’s about these kids in the future who play this Dance Dance Revolution/Street Fighter hybrid game, and they take it waaayyyy to seriously. The idea sounds kind of stupid until you see it action.

2010 Nerdcore Calendar Gets a Horror Movie Theme

October 9th, 2009 by brownkidd

2010SampleMonths_Censored

Another year, another Nerdcore calender featuring sexy models posing… nerdily.

This year, they’ve gone with a horror movie theme, featuring all the greats like Carrie, Psycho, Poltergeist, Evil Dead, and more. And, no, the actually calendar doesn’t cover all the good stuff with those Nerdcore glasses.

Pick up your 2010 Nerdcore calendar here for $25.

When is somebody gonna’ step up and make a nerd calendar for the ladies out there? I think I’ll take it upon myself to initiate this movement. I can call it something catchy like Nerdy Dudes and Dirty n00dz or something like that. Oh man, the chicks are gonna’ LOVE it!!!
